Glorious Slow Going, Maine Stories of Art, Adventure, and Friendship
The Art of Marguerite Robichaux, With essays by Elizabeth Peavey
Renowned painter Marguerite Robichaux and award-winning writer Elizabeth Peavey share adventures through the woods and towns of Maine; the state they love to call home. Glorious Slow Going consists of nine "stories" - accounts of their various adventures written in Peavey's humorous voice, and illustrated with Robichaux's oil paintings and watercolors. The book is arranged by seasons and relates tales such as the experience of staying in a yurt for the first time and antiquing road trips in search of bargains and treasures. Descriptions of Maine's awesome natural surroundings, both in paint and in words, raises awareness of the slow development of, and potential degradation of, this great natural space.

A Force of Nature, The Ceramic Art of Randy Johnston
Dr. Andrew Maske, Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Kentucky, writes about the life and work of Randy Johnston, renowned contemporary American potter who lives and works in River Falls, Wisconsin. Johnston creates utilitarian wares that recall Neolithic forms and are modernized via their partnership with a Japanese folk aesthetic. His training began in the American Midwest, took him to a half-year of study with Shimaoka Tatsuzo in Mashiko, Japan, and finally returned him to River Falls, Wisconsin, where he is a working potter who maintains fidelity to the tradition and philosophy that initially turned him to ceramics: Mingei, the art of the people.
In addition to photographs of current and past works by the artist, there are also snapshots from his time spent in Japan (1970’s) and the beginnings of his studio at the same location he is currently.
