Friedensreich Hundertwasser (which means "Peace-Kingdom-Hundred-Waters) was born in Vienna and is well known his for organic, vivid style in painting, printmaking and architecture. He was schooled at Montessori and had a very brief formal art training at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. His education continued in his travels over the next fifty years to every corner of the earth. His work gives equal attention to form, color and line and makes strong statements about humanitarianism and environmentalism. His art challenges our intellect, awakens our sensations, and evokes the world of our dreams and wishes.
