INUIT CARVINGS AND GRAPHICS

Represented by Pucker Gallery since 1974

Most Recent Exhibition:
A Sense of Life, A Sense of Themselves: The Art of the Inuit
28 February - 30 March 2009

Since the 1970s, the Gallery has been privileged to exhibit the varied and beautiful soapstone and quartz carvings of the Inuit. Themes of indigenous flora and fauna, hunting, domesticity and mythology are skillfully and diversely treated in the various regions of Canada's Nunavut province. Inuit carving responds both to an aesthetic imperative and a need to understand the often harsh and threatening environment of their home.
