Paintings of the Last Decade is a wonderful addition to the first book on Ali. This new volume explores her continued dialogue with various kinds of space: interior and exterior; vast and minute; physical and spiritual. Here, her unique and subtle method of layering fabric to create dimension and shadow is creatively expressed through still lifes and landscapes. This recent body of work is inspired by Ali's frequent trips to Mexico. In it, she discovers and shares the vast landscapes and spiritual richness of that region, with its keen sense of mystery and splendor.

The book contains color reproductions of fifty of Ali's recent cloth paintings, several monotypes, and an interpretive essay by art historian Alicia Craig Faxon.
