A BAK A DAY

 One of the many joys of sharing the work of Samuel Bak is the layers of meaning woven into each meticulously rendered image. It is for good reason that he has been named The Painter of Questions. Beginning in 2021, it seemed effective to invite different folks—from Gallery associates, to Bak Museum staff, Bak patrons, and surprise guests—to write about one painting at a time and to then share their thoughts daily in the form of A Bak a Day. Each entry reflects a single viewer’s perspective on a work of art. These interpretations are not definitive—no single explanation of meaning can be. Instead, they are intended to spark thought, raise questions, and invite unique responses from each viewer.
