Please join our friends at Indigo Fire Watertown on Sunday, 11 May 2025 from 10AM - 4PM for a workshop with Tomoo Hamada, grandson of Shoji Hamada and son of Shinsaku Hamada. Tomoo is a celebrated Japanese potter who exhibits, lectures, and demonstrates internationally. He is a central figure in Mashiko, living on his grandfather Shoji’s original compound and acting as the director of the Shoji Hamada Memorial Mashiko Sankokan Museum.
This workshop is an opportunity to learn about Tomoo’s method of making. Participants can anticipate demonstrations of throwing, hand building, and surface decoration. Please note that this workshop is demonstration only.
This workshop will be translated by Koi Isaka.
